The Womenswear and Lingerie Editor for Marks & Spencer plays a crucial role in communicating with our customers about our products, stories and brand. You will need to be a true ‘editor’ – scouring upcoming collections for the best pieces and most interesting stories, with an unerring sense of what our customers want and care about – be able to create stand-out ideas and concepts, and then execute the vision on shoots and through engaging copy to showcase the best of what M&S has to offer.
You’ll also have commercial instincts, understanding the role of editorial content in driving sales, and be able to work with stakeholders across the business to understand their priorities and translate them into content ideas. You’ll think digital-first, with a strong sense of how content can work online.
In a fast-moving and ever-evolving business, you’ll also be ready to work on a host of other projects, and be a key authority on content, editorial and copy for the company.
To be successful in this role, you’ll have extensive experience in fashion editorial, and a complete understanding of who the M&S customer is. You’ll understand how to make great content, and how great content can help a business meet its goals. You’ll be organised, diligent and a self-starter, and ready to take a senior role in a busy team.
As the Womenswear & Lingerie Editor you’ll work with colleagues on the editorial team as well as the wider business (including buying, merchandising, design, allocation, PR, marketing and publications teams)
Other key stakeholders will be the social media team, and the creative and design teams, for shoot production/execution.
Along with excellent taste level and writing ability, to be successful in the role you’ll need to have the following skills and experience:
- Digital editorial experience and ability to generate engaging content ideas with a commercial focus
- Copy writing skills across editorial and commercial content with a digital focus and consideration of SEO
- Knowledge of trends and developments in your specific product area
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple projects and to react quickly to changing priorities
- Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues in the editorial team and other teams
- Ability to interpret analytics and use analytics tools such as Omniture
Please note this is a maternity cover role for 12 months.
