From launching a bespoke social-first celeb tasting panel to trending worldwide with Santa’s Yumnut and driving millions of views through Percy Pig videos on Tik Tok, we’re looking for an experienced Social Media Manager to pave the way for us across our social channels.

This is not just any job, this is a job working in the team that produces all the creative content for M&S Food!

You will have experience managing content and reporting across a variety of social channels, and able to put the role of social within a campaign in-line with other channels above and below the line and define its unique role and KPIs. We need an innovator who can instinctively see an opportunity for content and campaigns to shine through the distinctive social lens, and who isn’t afraid to challenge and suggest the unexpected when handed a traditional cutdown or a fixed content plan or budget.

You'll be quick thinking and bursting with market-leading, ground-breaking, social-first ideas and have the technical knowledge and creative skills to implement them end-to-end, from creative brief to post implementation review (PIR). Reporting into and working with our Head of Food Content and alongside our Performance Marketing Manager, you will manage an Assistant Social Manager and juggle a packed social calendar in a fast-paced environment where ideas and briefs can change daily.

You’ll need to be able to react to last-minute business priorities in a high pressure environment and not be afraid to get stuck into the system and help the team out in scheduling/uploading content.

Adept at managing multiple stakeholders, external agencies and used to working across all social platforms and utilising reporting and customer engagement tools and programmes, being the gatekeeper of social content on a day-to-day basis, but always keeping an eye on the long term strategy and using evidence-based, data driven findings to shape the future of content production.

You will help create a social-first culture within M&S Food, constantly pushing the unique social point of view (POV) while keeping the social audience for each channel at the heart of every activation. This will involve, but will not be limited to, knowledge sharing within the marketing department; masterclasses and learning sessions; championing the installation of new tools, partnerships and techniques; robust performance reviews (channel, campaign, competitors).

Acting as the liaison with broader business teams including the Clothing & Home social team, online team, PR team, and corporate comms team, you’ll ensure alignment between shared channels, maintain effective communication and skill sharing across both teams.

Key skills/preferred experience:

  • Forward thinking and dynamic, capable of making big changes and leading a team
  • Commercially minded, with an understanding of how content and commercial operations overlap
  • Experienced in leading excellent social media campaigns and content creation
  • Able to deliver results in managing fan growth and earned reach
  • Understanding of social media analytics tools
  • Ability to create and implement strategy
  • Ability to manage agency and supplier relationships
  • Ability to interpret and analyse data to advise and improve content production, digital journeys and trade
