Reporting into the Head of Strategy - Food Logistics your role will be to manage and co-ordinate all programmes and projects across the Food Logistics function & be the key link to central programme teams.

Key accountabilities and measures

  • Own the Food Logistics Programme Office (FLPO) and all co-ordination & programme management of initiatives therein
  • Maintain all processes for the FLPO to ensure effective management across the Food Logistics team with focus on project objectives, scope & deliverables
  • Provide governance on all projects within the programme ensuring regular feedback is received and actions managed appropriately
  • Provide direction & priority to all stakeholders on projects within the FLPO ensuring all projects remain relevant against the Food Logistics and wider Foods End 2 End Supply Chain strategies
  • Manage and communicate the risks & issues to the business as and when required and at the appropriate stakeholder level in a timely manner. Feedback to all project owners is essential to ensure time & resource is planned effectively
  • Enable the Food Logistics team to make priorities by having clear benefits & scopes attached to each project
  • Enable effective decision making by the Head of Logistics Strategy and Logistics Strategy Managers by calling out interdependencies and cross-over across FLPO projects
  • Work with our 3PL providers in a confidential and appropriate manner to manage project delivery and maintain the relationships & ways of working. Be clear & decisive when projects appear to creep on scope and timeframes
  • Challenge effectively & appropriately where required to maintain the integrity of the programme and it’s benefits against the Food Logistics cost challenge
  • Have a broad understanding of Food Logistics to be able to manage & support Logistics understanding across both the team and its stakeholders
  • Escalate appropriately and at pace to all relevant stakeholders as and when the need arises with clear logging & tracking of decisions made
  • Conduct regular reviews with project leads & teams, both internal & external, against the programme both before, during and after delivery
  • Maintain an appropriate level of access to all the latest documents & plans
  • Management of discreet projects within or not-within the FLPO is sometimes required due to the flexibility within the Foods Logistics function to change at pace

Key skills

  • Experience as a PMO, Programme or Project Manager
  • Understanding of working in programmes with tactical and strategic initiatives
  • Experience working within a Logistics function, particularly in Food Retail is highly desirable
  • A relevant & up-to-date qualification is desirable (e.g. PRINCE2, MSP)
  • Ability to work well with 3PL providers and manage different levels of relationships within your own & external businesses
  • Highly organised and detail & data driven approach
  • Ability to work under pressure and with a moderate level of ambiguity
  • Microsoft applications including – Word / PowerPoint / Excel etc.
