Business Development Manager – Innovation Hub

Given the scale of the opportunity within the group, this is an exciting time to join our business and specifically a newly formed team whose mandate is to drive harder our legacy for disruptive innovation and differentiating our offer from the competition by creating new and exciting propositions for our customers.

Reporting to the Head of Innovation your role will be to contribute to the swift commercialisation of business development or innovation opportunities across Foods through the development of robust business case and return on investment analysis. Utilising your knowledge and experience you'll provide relevant insights to help the Innovation Hub team make the right decisions, address key challenges, and identify new ways to grow.

Key accountabilities and measures

  • Identify and lead commercial analysis of emerging trends and business development growth opportunities to influence the innovation framework development
  • Develop solutions and action plans based on your business case and return on investment analysis, including evaluation of different solution options
  • Develop financial models and business cases to support your analyses and enable data-driven decision-making, in particular for requests for capital from Food Leadership Team
  • Collaborate with the trading areas across the Foods to share opportunities and ensure they successfully integrate into existing Category Transformation and Product & Packaging Pathway business processes
  • Evaluate project briefs issued by trading areas on support required for commercialisation of business development opportunities and the suitability for the Innovation
  • Distil data, insights, and information into clear and compelling written presentations / innovation proposal papers
  • Present findings to a wide range of senior stakeholders and influence decision-making as well as working closely with the multidisciplinary Innovation Hub team
  • Formulate implementation plans for, and mobilise, new business development or innovation opportunities in conjunction with the delivery team
  • Project manage ad hoc business development initiatives to point of execution or handover to the trading areas including conducting PIR (post implementation review) analysis to justify roll out

Key skills/preferred experience

  • Proven track record of entrepreneurial and agile business development in retail or consumer markets
  • Exceptional commercial analytical skills, including proven skills in financial modelling including Retail or manufacturing P&L
  • Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills, while being comfortable working with ambiguity
  • Strong influencer who can work with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence and poise in presenting to management
  • Great project management skills with experience in developing workplans and managing critical paths/
  • Relentless focus on details, accuracy, and quality with ability to combine data from multiple sources
  • Intellectually curious, high energy and resilient
  • Flexible and able to balance multiple projects / priorities
