Organisational Strategy Manager
Location(s) LondonM&S has a bold vision for the future, and is operating at the forefront of some of the biggest shifts in the retail industry. We are seeking experts in operating model and organisation design to join our Strategy & Transformation function and help us address the most significant strategic, financial and operational questions facing our business.

Key accountabilities
The Organisational Strategy Manager will:
Seek to understand the M&S business and its strategy and the potential implications of this for our customers and colleagues
Partner closely with the Strategy team and senior leadership to identify the big operating model and organisation design shifts needed to achieve our goals
Develop high-level OD solutions that enable strategy execution, including e.g. clarifying future capability requirements, recommended high-level structures, design of aligned critical metrics and governance and articulation of desired decision-making rights and ways of working
Facilitate senior decision-making on future organisation design for M&S, through development of clear and compelling written presentations and papers
Understand the impact of processes and systems transformation on organisation design, and support Transformation Programme teams to translate that impact into organisation structure change
Build detailed organisation design solutions where required (e.g. for a specific Function or Business Unit), working with HR, Finance, Transformation and other colleagues to develop detailed OD outputs
Work with HR and Change teams to plan the implementation of new OD solutions, ensuring effective handover to the change impact, workforce transition and stakeholder engagement activities required to implement
Analyse data, diagnoses issues and presents options which balance commercial gain with customer impact
Contribute to the development of OD tools that support effective decision-making, including documenting current operating models or developing future organisational capability maps
Key experience
Have a demonstrable track record in the design and delivery of OD in Retail, Consumer or other Private Sector industries, ideally from within a management consulting organisation
Hold sophisticated critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Be a good communicator, able to establish rapport and influence at all levels
Have a proven grounding in OD theory and experience of applying it in practice
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Possess confidence and poise in making pitches to management and senior leaders
Have sound knowledge of function and departmental processes and the flow of work in a retailer
Hold experience of working in project delivery roles
Have strong analytical skills
Have experience leading cross function business change projects
Be intellectually curious, high energy and resilient
