Everyone is welcome at M&S. No exceptions. It’s your background, abilities and differences that make you, uniquely you. And when you’re part of M&S, that individuality has the potential to make waves.
This section tells you all you need to know about the position and its responsibilities, outlining everything we hope to see in a successful candidate.
The Assistant Operation Manager is an integral part of the M&S.com operations team and will take the lead on a growing and high profile area of our online business. Primary focus is independently owning and driving forward end to end management of our separate ROI online operation.
This involves thinking more broadly about operational and business metrics and the working with multiple stakeholders to make a combination of tactical and strategic decisions needed to achieve success.
Critical to this is working cross-functionally with teams in ROI, retail teams, supply chain, tech and central planning to ensure the ROI customer experience is as consistent and stable as possible – all the while acting as the custodian and gatekeeper to operational change. We also then want this candidate to have a growth mindset and not accept the status quo and push for change and evolution so that the ROI operation can truly lead the way.
With an increasingly complicated fulfilment network, coupled with ever evolving system capability – we strive on a hourly, daily and weekly basis to get the balance right between cost, utilisation, proposition and service. Of high importance to this role therefore is an ability to seek out and cut through problems and recommend actions – based off a comprehensive, agile understanding of live operational data.
