Trading Manager - Bakery & In-Store Bakery

As Trading Manager for Bakery & In-Store Bakery you will lead a team delivering our innovative freshly baked goods, delighting and surprising our customers. You will have end to end accountability for both buying and operational excellence delivered through our dedicated store operations team.

Key accountabilities and measures:

  • Deliver Cluster Operating plan, by driving sales and market share within your categories
  • Ensure personal and team adherence to financial reporting requirements
  • Deliver profit growth through driving the Value Optimisation (VO) programme and managing key costs such as promotional spend and waste
  • Work with your Trading Manager peer group to drive ways of working and alignment across the Food Group
  • Translate the Food strategy including universal range, promotional strategy and central policy, into an implementation plan and framework for the Category
  • Work with your Product Development and Technology to ensure alignment on supply base, innovation and NPD strategy
  • Lead the category team to create and communicate a Category strategy to the Head of Trading, which will achieve the goals set out by the Food Group
  • Communicate to, and challenge the supply base by ensuring they are achieving their goals as set out within the Category strategy
  • Provide line management for the Trading & Store Operations team - setting and reviewing objectives, giving feedback
  • Keep up to date with product development information internally and externally
  • Develop a direct and positive relationship with the team
  • Involve teams in decision making by working cross functionally and collaboratively
  • Continually ensure personal behaviour reflects the vision and values of the business
  • Take sponsorship/work stream roles to support the Food Strategy
  • Exploit new systems and processes to build a better business
  • Ensure all categories within your cluster deliver the ranging critical path accurately and on time
  • Ensure delivery of quality ranges in your clusters that deliver the M&S ranging principles and op-plan targets
