Summary
At M&S, developing remarkable people is at the heart of our success. As People Development & Learning Manager, you will support the Regional People Team to drive a positive colleague experience through brilliant execution of the people plan. Working closely with Store Management Teams, Regional People Partners and Academy teams, you will lead learning and development activity across the region, ensuring colleagues have the skills, knowledge and support required to thrive, whilst building a strong pipeline of future talent.

This role supports our East Midlands, East Anglia and South Outlets, meaning regular travel to stores is involved in this role 4-5 days per week including some weekends.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the learning experience for all colleague groups, including early careers, apprenticeships and senior hires, ensuring a consistent and high-quality development journey.
  • Manage regional MyWelcome hubs and employability programmes, delivering exceptional onboarding experiences and coordinating learning events across the region.
  • Support regional talent through learning programmes, providing ongoing development support and ensuring all learning plans are executed accurately through the Customer Assistant Learning team.
  • Line manage and coach Customer Assistant Learning colleagues, ensuring clear development plans are in place and Academy principles are consistently delivered.
  • Drive completion of mandatory e-learning and ensure learning capacity, resources and programmes support legal compliance and business requirements.
  • Champion technical and behavioural learning initiatives, partnering with store leadership teams to support transformation projects, store openings, closures and renewals.
  • Monitor learner and manager feedback, using insight and data to continuously improve the learning experience and Academy offer.

What You Will Bring

  • Experience delivering learning, development, onboarding or talent programmes within a retail or customer-focused environment.
  • Strong coaching, stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and support a wide range of colleagues.
  • Experience managing learning plans, development programmes and compliance-based training activity.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and ensure excellent execution.
  • Experience using data and feedback to measure learning effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
  • A passion for developing talent and building capability, with an understanding of colleague development, apprenticeships and early careers programmes.
