Summary
We’re looking for a Highly creative and commercially minded Lead Store Design Manager - Foods to shape the future of our food retail environments. This role blends strategic thinking with hands on design delivery, ensuring our stores inspire customers, strengthen brand identity, and support operational excellence. Aligning with our food business and category innovation and growth ambition.

You’ll lead the end to end design process for food formats, fixtures, and customer experiences, working closely with cross functional teams to bring concepts to life across our estate.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead the end‑to‑end design and development of food store formats, layouts, fixtures, and in‑store experiences.
  • Translate brand, category, and commercial strategy into compelling, practical physical environments and equipment solutions.
  • Partner closely with Category teams, Property, Retail Operations, SRD, and external agencies to deliver high‑quality concepts from ideation to implementation.
  • Use customer insight, data, and performance analysis to evolve concepts, improving shop‑ability, customer flow, and trading performance.
  • Ensure designs meet brand guardrails, accessibility standards, sustainability goals, and operational requirements, producing clear briefs and scalable rollout toolkits.
Who You Will Be
  • An experienced retail or food/hospitality designer with a strong, customer‑centric portfolio.
  • Able to balance creativity with commercial awareness, operational practicality, and cost considerations.
  • A confident communicator and influencer, comfortable presenting concepts and leading projects with senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborative, resilient, and energised by the pace and complexity of retail transformation and innovation.
  • Technically credible, with knowledge of materials, equipment specification, and construction environments (design software proficiency desirable).

To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected. It also means we can solve problems as soon as they arise, learn and grow as a team, build trust, and get closer to our colleagues.
