Job Description:

This role is currently based in Long Eaton with a long term view to move to our Distribution Centre in Castle Donington. This role could also be based at our Distributon Centre in Welham Green. The role is national with some travel.

Job purpose

The purpose of the role is to own the logistics operation in the adoption of new systems, processes and consistent ways of working in the transport network. You will identify, model and deliver these processes, systems and ways of working to support the logistics network with a clear focus on the transport network. You will work closely with the Logistics Planning Team to identify and drive opportunities for business improvement and to coordinate and manage new projects and initiatives. To assist with delivering new initiatives, unlocking added value opportunities, future vision, ultimately delivering a more efficient logistics network for M&S.

Key accountabilities and measures

• Identification and implementation of business improvement initiatives across the logistics network with a focus on transport opportunities

• Identify and manage stakeholder relationships which are key to the successful implementation of changes

• Maintain required dialogue with stakeholders to ensure changes are delivered successfully through addressing risks and issues

• Deliver results that ensure the goals of the customer are achieved without contractual or commercial impact

• Generate enthusiasm and have a positive attitude to change, overcoming barriers to change, seeking opportunities to improve processes, plans & carrying through change

• Through robust data analysis of key operational and cost metrics, identify continuous improvement opportunities and work with the operational teams to quantify the value of the opportunity

• Work with the Operations Managers and 3PL’s to identify and deliver improvements at network and site level

• Align benefit delivery to Clothing and Home strategy and priorities

• Keep in tune with industry trends to identify further opportunity

Key skills

• Ability to take a fresh and innovative view to problem solving & analysis

• Analytical approach to review effectiveness and efficiency of current network

• Business acumen, ideally, developed across a range of business sectors / service offerings

• Investigative style and approach to seek to resolve issues and continuously improve the running of the supply chain

• The ability to make informed decisions in a fast-moving environment

• Understanding of Continuous Improvement techniques and their application in a warehousing and transport environment

• Significant Customer Orientation to allow alignment and perpetual review of mutual aims and objectives

• Network / Transport Planning Experience

• Experience of relevant network planning systems

• Working knowledge of end to end supply chain solutions, in particular warehouse, customer service, transport and inventory management services

• Exceptional logic and numerical reasoning

• Excellent written and verbal presentation skills

• The ability to simplify complex problems/messages – adjusting the approach as necessary

• Ability to think creatively to solve problems and to bring colleagues with you

• Ability to set direction when faced with ambiguity

• Stakeholder management skills to provide information, drive decisions and resolve issues.

• Be innovative and relentless in your desire to identify and deliver opportunities for M&S to exploit new solutions
