How We Hire

Everyone is welcome at M&S. No exceptions. It’s your background, abilities and differences that make you, uniquely you. And when you’re part of M&S, that individuality has the potential to make waves.

About the role

This section tells you all you need to know about the position and its responsibilities, outlining everything we hope to see in a successful candidate.

To stay close to our customers and colleagues, our support teams are in the office for at least three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected.

Summary
Ready to turn data into real change across a national logistics network?

Then we have a phenomenal opportunity for a Logistics Assistant Continuous Improvement Manager (CI) to join our SC&L Operations team where continuous improvement sits at the heart of delivering better outcomes for customers, colleagues and cost!

This role plays a key part in identifying, shaping and delivering impactful change across a complex warehouse network, working in close partnership with 3PL providers and cross-functional teams.

With a strong focus on data-led decision making, the role translates operational challenges into practical, scalable solutions, owning improvement pipelines, driving structured review rhythms and ensuring benefits are tracked, validated and delivered. From leading network-wide CI activity to influencing WMS development and standardisation, the position combines analytical thinking with hands-on delivery.
All the details

The role also works closely with Retail and programme teams to turn end-to-end problem statements into simple, effective solutions, ensuring initiatives land with clarity and deliver measurable impact across the business.

We are looking for someone with strong data analytics capability who can confidently interpret complex information, identify root causes and translate insight into practical, scalable solutions. A technically confident individual, comfortable using tools such as Excel, Power BI and AI-driven solutions to drive efficiency and impact.

The ideal candidate will be a structured problem solver with excellent stakeholder skills, able to influence, challenge constructively and communicate clearly across a wide network. A resilient, self-motivated mindset is key, thriving in ambiguity, working at pace and continuously seeking opportunities to improve, challenge the status quo and deliver measurable outcomes.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape transformation at scale, champion best practice, and build a culture that celebrates progress while continuously challenging the status quo!

NB The role will be based from one of our Logistics hubs (Bradford, Castle Donington or Welham Green) but most of the time will be spent working in partnership with our 3PL’s on sites across the country so the successful candidate must be prepared to travel.

What you’ll do

Your key accountabilities will include

  • Drive meaningful, data-led improvements across a national warehouse network, partnering closely with 3PL teams to deliver tangible results at both site and network level
  • Take ownership of the end-to-end CI pipeline, leading structured review rhythms and ensuring initiatives are prioritised, progressed and delivering measurable benefits
  • Build and maintain a strong network of cross-functional stakeholders, aligning Operations, Finance and external partners to maximise impact and delivery
  • Shape the future of warehouse operations by influencing WMS development, driving standardisation and simplifying processes across multiple sites
  • Lead end-to-end problem solving, turning complex operational and retail challenges into clear, scalable solutions that improve performance and enhance the end customer experience

Who you are

Your skills and experience will include

We will help the successful candidate develop some of these skills on the job and will provide training as and when the need arises but the core skills we are looking for are:

  • Strong data analytics capability, using tools such as Excel and Power BI to interrogate data, identify trends, and establish root causes that inform practical, value‑driven solutions
  • Technically proficient with digital tools and platforms (e.g. SharePoint, AI/Copilot, automation, data visualisation) to enhance efficiency, insight generation and stakeholder communication
  • Structured problem-solver with the ability to translate complex data and business challenges into clear, actionable improvement plans and scalable solutions
  • Confident stakeholder collaborator, building effective networks to challenge constructively, align on priorities and drive continuous improvement outcomes at pace
  • Resilient and adaptable mindset, thriving in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with a focus on continuous learning, iterative delivery and measurable impact
