Celebrating Data Success
We are super proud to share that Suze Howse, Head of Enterprise Data, was shortlisted for the DataIQ Data and Analytics Leader of the Year Award. The DataIQ Awards are the data industry’s most prestigious awards, and although Suze didn’t win, her dedication is a testament to helping M&S build a digitally enabled and data-driven organisation that is fit for the future.
The Data and Analytics Leader of the Year Award recognises data leaders with impact, influence, and engagement across their organisation – we couldn’t have described Suze better ourselves. Suze started her M&S career with a weekend job in stores that inspired her to join our central support team, where she progressed from a Central Planner in Food to her role today.
“Suze has been a singularly crucial factor in achieving what can only be described as monumental success in such a short space of time. Her talent, strength of character, influence and vision has accelerated M&S’s data transformation.”
She has been fundamental in transforming the way we leverage data as a business – she has established BEAM, our business-wide data platform, started unlocking millions of pounds of business value with advanced data solutions, and has set up the BEAM Academy, helping give everyone the opportunity to learn more about data.
Of course, Suze hasn’t done all of this on her own. She has a fantastic team working with her, is an inspirational leader to them and a brilliant mentor in the Digital and Data community.

Enabling us to deliver revolutionary retail experiences for our customers, as well as accelerating our colleagues’ ability to come up with powerful commercial solutions to fascinating industry challenges.
Next month, we're heading to The Data Science Festival, an annual celebration of all things data science. The festival consists of lectures, workshops, demos, code sprints, panel discussions and social events. We’re passionate about Data and can’t wait to meet other like-minded members of the community who’re excited about our mission!
